Stage 1
What: 4 one-day basic hands-on training courses in hedge laying
When: Jan '10 to Feb '10

Where: A range of potential sites with suitable hedgerows have been identified.
Who will carry out the activity: A tender process will be initiated to recruit training instructors accredited to Assessor Standard (NPTC / City & Guilds) in Hedge Laying
Who is the activity for:
- Farmers, land owners
- Local Communities, Tidy Town and Development groups
- Conservation Groups
- Foresters and arboriculturalists
What will we achieve: Provide basic hands-on training in hedge laying to 24 trainees
Stage 2
What: Hedge Laying Training Programme to Accredited Standard
When: October '10 to February '11
Where: A range of potential sites with suitable hedgerows have been identified.
Who will carry out the activity: A tender process will be initiated to recruit training instructors accredited to Assessor Standard (NPTC / City & Guilds) in Hedge Laying
Who is the activity for: Potential Hedge Laying Trainers. The course will target individuals who have some previous experience and a commitment (and in a position) to disseminate their new skill to others, e.g. within conservation organisations.
What will we achieve: Train and Assess 6 candidates to National Proficiency Tests Council / City & Guilds Standard in Hedge Laying.
A core of people who can share their skills with others.
